Welcome to PaulBettany.net, a tribute to one of the most talented actors working today. From the violent cruelty of Young Gangster, to the playful humor and charisma of Geoffrey Chaucer, to the subtlety and gentleness of Stephen Maturin, to the torment of Silas the monk, Paul Bettany has given one perfect performance after another. If you admire him as much as we do, you've come to the right place! This is an unofficial site run by and for fans. Please direct news, comments, and questions to DeeDee.

‘Bent’ video

Friday, March 30th, 2007

A few of you know that I got a new computer about a month ago, and so I now have the hardware and software needed to make video clips. To start us off, here is Paul’s main scene in Bent (1997). Warning: this clip gives away the end of the movie.

Scene from Bent (AVI; right-click and save, please)

Many more clips from Paul’s movies are on the way!

Shameless self-promotion

Sunday, March 25th, 2007

Hey, everybody… just a bit of shameless self-promotion here.  *grins*  I’ve opened a new forum for the lovely, Golden Globe winning actress Emily Blunt (The Devil Wears Prada, My Summer of Love, Gideon’s Daughter).  It’s incorporated with the fansite emily-blunt.org.  The forum just opened tonight, so it’s all empty and lonely.  If you enjoy Emily’s work, please consider popping over there, joining the board, and making some of those “0 posts” things disappear.

The Tap Project

Thursday, March 22nd, 2007

Today Ecorazzi.com reported that Paul was on hand in New York City last night to help promote The Tap Project, a UNICEF campaign to promote safe and healthy drinking water around the world. Click here to read more about the event, and keep an eye on the gallery updates… I’ll be looking for photos.

Paul and Jennifer in Manhattan

Friday, March 16th, 2007

If you go to Getty Images and do a search for Paul Bettany, you can see six new photos of him and Jennifer walking in Manhattan on Wednesday night. This Livejournal post has another set from the same night.  They won’t be added to the gallery due to our candids policy, but they’re definitely worth going to see, as both Paul and Jennifer look very happy and cute. Thanks, Rahalia!

‘Inkheart’ set video

Sunday, March 4th, 2007

IESB has put a video online from their Inkheart set visit. It includes several shots of Paul as Dustfinger, including a cute bit about how they trained the ferret to follow him.  Click here to watch it, and check the gallery updates for a few screencaps from it.

Inkheart – CanMag interview

Friday, March 2nd, 2007

CanMag has an interview with Paul about Inkheart. Here is a quote about Dustfinger:

“He didn’t ask to be here and sort of every moment in the film that we see him he’s just trying to get home to what you realize later on in the film is his family. That’s how I often feel when making films.”

Update on ‘The Journey Home’

Thursday, March 1st, 2007

I had pretty much given up on The Journey Home, but today Hildigunnur sent in an article from an Icelandic newspaper. It reports that Liv Ullman is no longer attached to direct the film, but that Paul Bettany and Jennifer Connelly are still part of the project. Thanks to Hildi for finding, scanning, and translating this!
