Extra has a short video with comments from Harrison Ford, Virginia Madsen, and Paul (at the very end). I made a few screencaps. Whew. Now off to record Harrison on Jay Leno.

Thanks to Noa for entering the Firewall desktop contest! Her fantastic design was the only entry, so she will win the FW poster from Warner Brothers. Thanks, Noa!

IESB posted a 9-minute video interview with Harrison Ford, who had some nice stuff to say about Paul. Click here to read the excerpt, and follow the link on that page if you’d like to watch the entire interview.

clips

Tuesday, January 31st, 2006

IESB.net has 8 Firewall clips! Paul is in all of them except the first.

ETA: I’ve made 40 screencaps from the clips.

Judging from the little bit I’ve seen, I’d say that if Paul is our only reason for going to this movie (and I’m sure for most of us, he is), then at least we have a good reason. He’s amazing as always, even 300 pixels across.

syriana

Tuesday, January 31st, 2006

I always like going back to read Paul’s old interviews – sometimes you find interesting stuff you didn’t notice before. Just now, for instance, I found this comment he made in Giant back in 2004:

“I sit and read whatever superhero script, and then I read in the paper about Fallujah. Not to sound too pretentious, but it’s so disparate. There’s nothing addressing that reality. Actually, there are a couple of things. There’s a brilliant script I read called Syriana. It’s really good.”

Syriana was nominated for the Best Screenplay Oscar this morning. ;)

script

Entertainment Weekly puts Firewall into the script-o-matic. Dear, wimpy Paul tells ContactMusic about his attempts to beat up Harrison Ford. And sci-fi writing couple Barb & JC Hendee would be interested in having Paul play Leesil if their books were ever filmed.

(I think the Great Paul News Drought is over, guys…)

premiere

Monday, January 30th, 2006

Warner Brothers has announced the world premiere of Firewall. It takes place this Thursday night at Grauman’s Chinese Theatre in Hollywood. The stars are set to start arriving at 6:00 PM. If any Paul fans live in that area and are able to get pictures, please send them along!

Paul will be appearing on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno on Feb 3, and on Conan O’Brien’s show Feb 10. Set those VCRs! I’ll be posting screencaps (and, if possible, videos) of both appearances.

misc

Monday, January 30th, 2006

There’s a new Firewall poster – and this one includes Paul. Also, Jen has sent a new fan mail address for Paul at his new agency, Troika. I certainly intend to try it!

ellen

Sunday, January 29th, 2006

The official site for the Ellen Degeneres Show has this description of Thursday’s program:

    ELLEN’S FREAK YOUR FREAK SHOW

ELLEN loves to FREAK YOUR FREAK. You won’t want miss what Ellen has in store for her audience, guests and home viewers! Joining Ellen for this FREAKY show is TERI HATCHER from the Golden Globe winning “Desperate Housewives.” Who knows who will get freaked when these two get together? Also, PAUL BETTANY drops by to chat about his upcoming film “Firewall” and helps ELLEN Freak someone’s Freak.

Sounds…… interesting. ;)

review

Sunday, January 29th, 2006

Danielle at Harrison Ford Web got to attend one of the Firewall screenings followed by a Q&A with Ford. This is her reaction to the movie:

I think Firewall is a solid thriller, and was a lot of fun to watch with a large audience (especially one that loves Harrison). There were random bursts of applause when he’d punch someone, cheers, and laughter too. It had an interesting premise, and there were some fun twists. There was nothing terribly original, but it was definitely enjoyable to watch. Also, I consider it a huge positive that, despite the fact that I knew Harrison Ford would be coming out soon, I was able to completely forget that and get engrossed in the film. All in all, I would say it was a good action/adventure, with a few surprises.

That’s certainly more heartening than the AICN review. :)

joker

Sunday, January 29th, 2006

A little more on that Joker rumour. Latino Review asked Paul about it:

“Yeah I heard nothing about it except through people saying ‘Are you in the Batman sequel? Am I?’ No one’s called me.” Bettany continues “I thought it was an extraordinarily well made film (the first one) so I would be open to fraud negotiations.” [Laughs] “I simply haven’t a clue because it also depends when these things happen. They have to fall evenly for me know.” Would Bettany be open to play a villain like the Joker? “All work interests me, I’m absolutely open to everything.”
